We presently have three networks that span a good portion of the country.
The networks are satellite networks which consist of Sun
workstations, Mac's, and PC's and Wellfleet routers
to do the routing. We eventually hope to connect all three networks
together but the issue of security is now upon us. We are attempting to
use the filtering options on the routers of each network to build firewalls
for each network, but the entire situation is becoming an adminstrative
nightmare.
I would welcome any ideas on firewalling on large networks.
Do routers make good firewalls?
Are there seperate boxes that make better firewalls?
How do other companies do it?
Whatever suggestions or information would be appreciated.
