I figured that firewalls folks might be interested; with luck, the
InterLock implementors read the list. (I don't have a contact address for
them, or I'd use it.)

Section 5.2.9 of RFC 1123 states that the empty SMTP reverse-path of "<>"
is a MUST item:
5.2.9 Command Syntax: RFC-821 Section 4.1.2
The syntax shown in RFC-821 for the MAIL FROM: command omits
the case of an empty path: "MAIL FROM: <>" (see RFC-821 Page
15). An empty reverse path MUST be supported.
However, "InterLock SMTP Gateway 1.1" does not support it:

Remote protocol error
You should contact the vendor and request that this bug be fixed, as it
will result in you getting no error responses from RFC 1123 compliant
mailers such as sendmail V8.
