My list of books would include the following:
"tcp/ip network adminstration" by Craig Hunt,        an O'Reilly book
"tcp/ip illustrated Vol 1"     by Stevens            an Addison & Wesley book
"Practical Unix Security"      by Garfinkel/Spafford an O'Reilly book
"Firewalls and Internet Security" by Cheswick/Bellovin an Addison & Wesley book

As for Firewall products I would role your own, for now.
