nntplink supports this out of the box.  I have patches to nntpget to
support it if anyone wants them. Our newsfeeds file contains lines like:

   somehost:newsgroups:/distributions\
	Tc,Wnm:/usr/lib/news/bin/nntplink -P XXX -b somehost firewall

where XXX is one of the port numbers on the firewall that has a plug-gw
listening to patch it through to port 119 on the remote machine. Neil.
