While I most definitely agree with the idea of "buying" your UNIX from BSDI,
if, for some reason, that's not an interesting option, I would like to point
out that FreeBSD 2.0 and newer has packet-filtering firewall support code
built right into the system (configurable as a kernel option).

I personally believe in a mixture of packet filtering and application relays,
and I find this combination quite useful if one doesn't have another device
(ahem) that can act as a packet filter.
