Announcing: New ftp archives for user authentication

Enigma Logic has created a new, network-accessible resource containing
software tools and information relating to network user authentication.
Built in accordance with current and emerging Internet standards, these
new archives represent the culmination of a major development effort by
Enigma's software team, and a completely new generation of Enigma Logic
"SafeWord" software. (Our older products are still available and still
supported, and interoperate with the new architecture, but most new
customers will want to deploy these new items.)

At the present time, these archives are available via anonymous ftp
through Netcom online services at the following address:

ftp.netcom.com /pub/sa/safeword

You will probably find that these archives contain more than you ever
wanted to know about positive user I.D. verification. Containing
products and information from more than a dozen companies that
interoperate with SafeWord, these archives are loaded with
related source code, Internet standards and Internet drafts, and
free-of-charge software modules that cooperate with the commercial
SafeWord Management Core software via SafeWord's published, open
interfaces.

These archives are very extensive. They contain clients, servers,
authenticators, and managers that operate on at least fourteen
different operating system/hardware platforms. Accordingly, the top-level
subdirectory is divided into five sections: clients, servers,
authenticators, managers, and MarketingInfo. Be sure to read the "readme"
files for an orientation.

With the free software and publications available in these archives,
almost any security-conscious organization with Internet access can
deploy an authenticating perimeter around their sensitive information.
Most organizations will find that the critically-needed authentication
clients are already present inside their routers and comm servers, and
the freely available client source code will help them deploy new clients
when needed inside hosts. A single copy of the commercial SafeWord
management core and associated (free) servers can complete the
installation.

Besides the flexible client/server architecture and free evaluation
these archives offer, one of the most important new developments is
widespread, free availability of our "SafeWord SofToken"
one-time-password software. You no longer need an expensive,
hardware-based cryptocalculator to deploy SafeWord. Free trial versions
of this low-cost commercial authenticator are available in our
archives for Microsoft Windows, Macintosh, and SunOs/Motif platforms, with
more on the way.

We hope these archives prove to be a valuable resourceto the Internet
community. They will continue growing and diversifying with time, so we
encourage you to "check in" often.
