When you say SUN's I think that you are refering to Solaris 2.x

On page 529 of the Steven's book "TCP/IP Illustrated" Vol.1 you will find
all the information you need.
udp_smallest_anon_port of /dev/udp is one you want to look at since it
clearly states that the default for the 'ephemeral' ports start at 32768.
tcp_smallest_anon_port of /dev/tcp what you want to set also for the tcp
end of things.  Default there is 32768.
Again, these are for the starting port number to allocate for TCP or UDP
ephemeral ports.
