Subject: Firewalls & "other" protocols...

IPX and Appletalk often make it into firewall discussions, but I'm
curious about what (if any) threat other more proprietry protocols
pose.

Recently, I've been working with some mainframes which speak (natively)
neither TCP/IP, IPX nor Appletalk. We do, however, require WAN support
so out goes ISDN...and who knows what goes on out there or over it...

What support is there for "other" protocols used by mainframes and does
anyone know of any to be particularly wary of or guard against ?
I haven't had the chance (yet) to examine the protocol in detail with
a tool such as tcpdump/etherfind to see what it is but I believe it
uses an older version of 802.3 over ethernet.
