	 auditors come into your shop and ask questions (perceptive or
	 otherwise) about firewalls and network security yet, and if
	 so, would you be willing/able to share such stories with the
	 list?

I'm not sure if I should name names or not -- it's not my place to do
so -- but I know for certain that at least one large industrial outfit
was barred by their auditors from connecting to the Internet until they
had a heavy-duty firewall in place.
