Well, for starters, there was a BOF session at the CSI NETSEC conference in
which a room full of Information Security professionals teleconferenced
(voice-only) with a couple of hackers in NYC. One of the questions put to
the hackers "Which is your favorite O/S to crack & why? Answer: The Solaris
because of the size and number of security holes.
Besides. I wouldn't recommend putting a firewall (secure platform) on top
of an insecure O/S. This is a classic example of the "grass huts with steel
doors".
