OK, let's nip this in the bud right here. I see an OS war coming, as
always happens when discussing the feasibility of
{linux,freebsd,netbsd,name-your-free-os-here} in a particular application. 

Suffice it to say that in evaluating a product (whether it's free or not)
one must gather as much information as possible from various different
sources, weigh the pros and cons of each alternative, and make the
decision based on cost, performance, ease of use, or whatever else is an
important consideration. 

This is not directed at Ed, or Todd, or anyone specific; just that we
don't need a "My OS is better than your OS" thing happening here.
