Once someone loads the page into their browser, they have access to
the source of the page itself. It is a simple step to edit that
source file. Pages, loaded into a browser, once they leave your
shop are, in actuality, insecure.
People can also take your printed material, put it on a high quality
color copier, and tip in their own text, too.
Security depends on maintaining control, which is something the web
has 0% of right now. You can transmit the information in a secure
manner, but, once you place the source file in the hands of anyone
that requests it, you have, by definition, lost control of the ultimate
presentation of that data.
(hey, people can even download the .gif from my home page and make me
look handsome and rich, too...:))
Business conducted solely on presented info on a web page, without
any subsequent controls or human intervention or validation of
information, is, imho, not a Good Thing (tm) for any business to
do.
