Well, I do not want to describe myself as an expert :) However
I'm using a Sparc 20 and a Pentium 75 (with Linux of course) together.
With Solaris 2.4 Sparc 20 seems very secure (with the exception of the
recent sendmail problem, but 2.5 does not have that problem). On the
other hand IMO Linux is not that much secure, but it is improving very
fast.
Performance on Linux is not so bad. It works fast (faster than 95
for example), however under heavy load Linux gets slover than (sometimes
very) the Solaris.
Reliability? I do not know if you can answer this with certainty.
But I can rely on Linux as well as (sometimes more than) Solaris. I can
only say up times (in average) of Linux is not as bad as that of Solaris.
Surely single processing speed is not as good as Solaris, but
under normal conditions you cannot recognize the difference easily.
I do not know what do you mean by *facts*, if numbers I'm sorry.
