firewalls schools

I'm a reporter for the trade publication Education Daily. We are working on
a piece concerning administrators' worries about students' access to
indecent material (pornography, violence, etc.) via school computers. Are
any schools using "firewall" or any other electronic barrier to control such
incidents? What would be the costs associated with this?

Any info you can forward would be helpful and appreciated.
