Hi. Please forgive my ignorance regarding this topic, which I think has
been treated before.

When you build a new system -any kind-, one of the ways to evaluate it is
to have a group of "tests" or "tasks" to be done, first without the new
system, then using the new system, and then comparing the results. I think
this a common part of any system evaluation.

When you test a firewall, Can you use this same kind of evaluation? What
should you consider when having this evaluation? What's the best way to
prove (others) that your firewall (or any firewall) will protect their
network from external threats?

It should be easily understandable having a network of Unix machines, but
what about NT, Win95 or mixed networks?

Thanks in advance to you all.
