Subject: SGI-DGL and X proxying

we use an X proxy to mediate X connections from the outside to our
firewall. Unfortunately, some SGI "X" applications use an external
connection to send SGI-DGL (Distributed GL) streams on port 5232.
Moreover, when we set up a generic proxy on this port (TIS fwtk
plug-gw), the receiving client machine gave an error because it got
the wrong display variable passed to it through the SGI-DGL
connection.

Has anyone managed to figure out how these applications work, and can
they be proxied? I am too paranoid to allow direct X connections to
SGI machines.
