Subject: NIS+ the Netscape proxy server & TIS ftp/telent proxies

I want to put together a distributed set of machines to provide proxy services
for a large community of users. Paradigm for access of the proxy services
requires that each user be authenticated; i.e., supply a login and password.
I want to use a network informatino service for this authentication so that I
can maintain a single login/passwd database. NIS+ seem like a reasonable
choice given that all the systems hosting these proxy services are Solaris
boxes.

Has anyone used the netscape API to link the proxy server to an NIS+ service
for user authentication? Think I remember someone posting at some time
describing how they had linked to NIS. In the same vain, has anyone linked
the ftp or telnet proxies in the TIS toolkit to NIS+?
