If You are trying to set up an ftp server for many people, then this
is a better solution. The original question reffered to transfer within
a company though.

This would be a nice idea to charge for information supplied over Internet.
Here in Stuttgart we use secure shell for administrative logins and file
transfers across the campus network, which is considered insecure.
