Not everybody has them yet.

Your fingerprints cannot hold any information re date of birth, photo,
liscence info, confictions, credit info, etc....

Yes I know that there are other ways of doing it (e.g. central(?) DB) but
who would want to store all of that information, and how would you know that
the finger prints really belong to the person holding the hand.

I _DO_ have to carry my drivers licence whenever I am driving, and whilst
we opposed and quashed the Australia card the govt still brought in a global
id number (Tax File no.) which needs to be disclosed to any govt dept
requesting it, to banks otherwise they tax you at the highest level (tax dept
still finds out how much you are saving anyway otherwise you loose a lot
of money)
