With the recent discussion of ActiveX, I should have mentioned that
Microsoft has agreed to turn ownership of the ActiveX specification over
to an independent standards body so that the specification can be vendor
independent. They said that their contribution to this process will
likely include specifications and source-code reference implementations
on multiple platforms, including UNIX and Apple Macintosh.

This is a step in the right direction for the technology.

Cheers,
Russ
