The Ascend Pipeline products do a good job of routing IPX/SPX and can
handle multiple filters. We are using a Pipeline 130 here to route both
IP and IPX/SPX via a BRI ISDN link to a remote office which has a
Pipeline 50. The link is set do drop the connection after 30 seconds of
inactivity and bring it up on demand, and bring the second channel up
when the first reaches 90% utilization.
We also use another Pipeline 130 to route to our ISP and that Pipeline
uses the Secure Access Manager Software which is an enhanced packet
filtering package. For the money I would say it is one of the better
bargains on the market today. The P130 can either handle BRI interface
of PRI interface and will do both ISDN and Frame Relay. Retail on the
P130 is about $1900.00US and the Secure Access Manager Software for the
P130 is about $1000.00US
We have been running the Pipelines for over a year and the SAM Software
for about a month and are pleased with the products and service. And
no, other than writing a check for the products we don't have any
connection to Ascend.
