Subject: Firewall/Web Server choices

I have been given the responsibility of choosing a H/W and S/W platform
and the server S/W for a web server. This machine would be separate from the
firewall which shall come later. The web server will be setup and running but
not attached to the internal network until the firewall is in place. After
reviewing numerous firewall choices, I am pretty well decided upon a SUN SPARC
running Solaris 2.5.1 with Firewall-1.

My question is: What should I choose as the web server? I have been given the
option of SUN Sparc/Solaris or Digital Alpha/DUNIX? Which would you recommend,
what Web server software would you use, and why? My boss has strong feelings
about
keeping the shop one type of H/W and OS (AXP/DUNIX), so I need hard facts not
emotional appeals.

Please e-mail me directly to avoid flooding this newsgroup with a rehash of what
has already been covered several hundred times before.

Thanks for your help in advance...
