I would like to ask the many security experts and MIS / Network Admin
and other readers of this list for their opinion about the most
important corporate networking needs. In particular, I'd like to find
out: A. what's important, B. what's desired but not attainable because
of the lack of security.

What are the top priorities of MIS directors?

What are the top security concerns of MIS directors?

What types of accesses would this MIS department like to give to users,
but can't because of security concerns?

What course-grained (all-or-nothing) decisions are they being forced to
make because of firewall limitations?

What kinds of networking relationships would one company like to
establish with other companies, but can't because of security concerns
that are not solved by firewalls or virtual private networks?

What are the top concerns of users?

What do corporate users need, that firewalls can't provide?

What limitations are they running into?

I would prefer to see some lively debate on this list, but I also
welcome direct mail.
I volunteer myself to summarize the direct responses and post the
results to this list. I'd like to hear from both firewall consultants
and MIS directors. Please preface your direct mail with 'Re: SURVEY' in
the subject line to help me sort it out in my in box.

Thanks in advance.
