Having been a long term subcsriber to this list as well as many others
including CERT / TELECOM / ETC, I find myself becoming a little tired of
all the users NOT following basic email rules. Recently canceling other
mailing list subscriptions due to massive volumes of quotes / etc I find
I feel I should speak out.

As every mailing of this list includes the instructions for

discontinuing service, how is it that so many listeners simply can't

read? Is there a solution to this other than the nasty thought of

registered access?

As far as quoting and signature lines, I must admit I have an ulterior

motive in this area. I spend a lot of time connected via cellular and

not only is the connection slow, but with disconnections can at times

become downright frustrating. If email quotes are restricted to relevant

portions of the quoted material, bandwidth could be significantly

reduced. The same is true of "huge" (slight grin here) signatures. It is

my understanding that the recommended length of a signature is 4 lines.

All opinions are my own, and please, if you must flame, send direct ;-)
