As a result of comments made to this list about security
issues involved in allowing Pointcast, I checked their
web page, was more troubled by their comment, so I emailed
their support group. Here is my email and their response.
I have masked their support persons name as I did not ask
permission to quote him and he may be in error. It did not
sound too reassuring to me that they can "more than likely"
view your files.

In you your FAQ, the question:
>"Can PointCast see the software and files on my computer?"

is sidestepped with:

>PointCast does NOT collect any information regarding software programs
>utilities, etc. that reside on individual computers. We
>respect the privacy of our viewers.

Is it really just DOES NOT, or is it
CAN NOT? There is a big difference, especially
with the increase in spoofing attacks.

Hello Frank,

With new technology, this is something to definitely be concerned about.
PointCast is a reputable company and more than likely can view the
files but really just does not with respect to our viewers. You can
rest assurred that no foul play will occur. We hope this answers your
question.

Best wishes,
