Sorry to butt in here, but this response is clearly misleading. While
NAT functionality can certainly be an integral part of the PIX firewall,
there is no longer a dependence on NAT to use this product as a firewall.
In fact, I'm quite satisfied that the PIX has developed into the type
of product which I held in high regard (and kept bitching about over the
course of the past couple of years).
I would suggest that people decide for themselves; further information,
to include a white paper which discusses the PIX in more detail, is
available at:
