     we had 10mbs ethernet from the desktop to the local router...from
     there it was fddi.  so if more than 1 person was on my segment
     browsing,  we'd only get 10mbs (best case, obviously) aggregate
     throughput.  but all the routers talked via fddi.  so only local
     segments were sharing a 10mbs pipe....i never got to see the traffic
     from the internet to us(i.e. people browsing our page, etc.),  but the
     traffic from us to the internet was something like 9mbs avg. (i think)
     i think the traffic from the net to us was at least this high for a
     total of ~18mbs (avg)
