In which juristiction? I don't believe there are uniform world laws
on this issue, are there?
To some extent this issue is much like the Communications Decency
Act - where useful information would be blocked in the interest of
safe computing (banning the word "breast" and denying aid and
comfort to those with "breast cancer" for example).
For example, if I had been infected with a virus, and could not
identify it, and I was trying to send it to the virus center for
technical assistance - would the outgoing mail be blocked to keep me
from sending an attachment with a [known] virus in it? Would I
then be denied access to technical support? I know that's not
mainstream e-mail, but it is a consideration.
We must be somewhat careful of protecting ourselves from
ourselves..... lest we shoot ourself in the foot!
One last question - has the Firewalls list now become Firewalls, et
al ? It appears that whatever the question, the answer is
firewalls (nearly like whatever the problem with protocols, the
answer is crypto). I hope we are not becoming myopic...
