Hi again,
Thanks to everyone that replied to my query. The above reply
showed that I had left out some important information.
We have ~ 160 users at this site. The firewall handles external
DNS and is the sites mail exchanger. The firewalls external interface
connects to a router which connects to our two internet links ->
10Mbps and 2Mbps microwave links.

The firewall seems to be coping well with everything except the http-gw.
The load average on the machine is doesn't often go above 1. The firewall
is running on SunOS 4.1.4. Our maintenance with our Gauntlet supplier only
covers the SunOS version. We will have to cross-grade to the solaris version.
We have ordered another 64Mb of memory for the Sparc Classic, which
will help initially with speed problems. In the long term ( next financial
year ), my boss is convinced that we will need to upgrade to Solaris and use a
Sun Ultra system.

Once again, thanks for your help,

 Colin .
