Actually, Frank, I think if you really look back at my posting style its
more like I come on strongly against vague supposition and innuendo and
call for facts, statements, and details. That's certainly how I see
myself.
I would have made the same argument regardless of the vendor involved
since, as you also said, its impossible to answer the question of a
connection between a vendor and an agency to any sufficient degree. At
what point does a connection become a problem for customers of the
vendors product anyway? What's the connection, I mean, what does it
entail? So asking the question about any vendor shouldn't be just "is
there a connection". Most Firewall vendors have former employees of this
or that agency, so why should that alone make them suspect?
I don't sell anything other than my own advice and my advice is always
based on a complete picture, not partial snap-shots (i.e. I look at both
the vendor and customer position and state my beliefs understanding both
sides). I receive nothing for my choices, only the viability of the
solution I propose (iow, I get no commissions from anyone).
I use Check Point products, and recommend them, but I also use and
recommend Digital's, Raptor, Global Internet, and others. As I said in
my post, the particular requirements of a customers environment dictate
the best product for the job.
I guess we all need our integrity questioned every once in a while.
Cheers,
Russ
