My impression is that their are 4 firewalls that we're all quite close in 
performance at the top of the DataComm performance graph.  They were all
within 10% of each other.  For the heavier client loads they were:
 
   SunScreen (kernel-based filtering on SPARC)
   ANS InterLock (application proxy-based on SPARC)
   AltaVista (application proxy-based on 64bit alpha)
   Checkpoint (kernel-based filtering on SPARC)

Like most performance comparisons, your mileage will vary and even these
four exchanged places as the applied load was increased.  Its an interesting
graph to examine when determining which product to go with if performance is
a major factor in your decision.
