Netscape makes many products. I'll assume you're talking about
Navigator.

In the "Options..." pull-down menu, there is a "Network Preferences..."
pop-up menu. This provides a "Proxies" tab. If you don't have an
automatic proxy configurator, press the "Manual Proxy Configuration"
button, then the "View..." button. This will pop up the Manual Proxy
Configuration page.

On the MPC page, give the name of your firewall host where it asks for
"Proxy" names. The Port will be 80 for at least FTP, Gopher, and HTTP.
It may be the same for Security. If you have configured your own WAIS
forwarder, you know on what port to reach it. Same for SOCKS - the
default for that one appears to be 1080.

Once you have done this, you can reach the Internet, but not your own
hosts! If there are local host names and domains behind your firewall
with you that you also want to reach, put them in the "No Proxy" list,
separated by commas o n l y - no spaces or anything. E.g.:

	www,siu,carol,cen.buap.mx,softway.com.mx	[ ;-) ]

Then you will be able to reach hosts behind your firewall.

Hope this helps!
