Let's not get into a debate over OS' here however. LINUX is the # One Unix
out there now. The only reason that it is never figured in when held up to
AIX, HP-UX, or Solaris/Sun-OS is because it is FREE. And because it is
free there are no Traditional lines of support for the program.
Traditional means a Helpdesk and Guarantee's or Warrantee's. This is one
of those programs in the tradition of BSD is FREE. It is developed in
cooperation by developers WORLD WIDE that if they see a need they develop
the part, driver, or whatever when they see the need. Sometimes they even
beat the other UNIX's to the punch. In fact LINUX supports more platforms
than any of the other UNIX's. So with that said I think that your
statement that because it is LINUX that the company will be short lived.
Yes it is licensed by GPL and free. However their product does not have to
be free and there are many that are not that are still making head way.
WordPerfect is one.
So jumping to the conclusion here is a little quick to the trigger I feel.
