This sounds e x a c t l y like the Good Times Virus.
And no, NOTHING can protect against the Good Times Virus ... because it
doesn't exist!
Except that the author of this just spread it again ... the only Good
Times Virus is the letter itself, that propagates the hoax that such a
thing exists. People who don't bother to check the Virus Hoax web
sites then spread it, tying up some portion of more and more people's
comms and disk spaces. MANAGERS (*shudder*) get hold of it, and demand
an immediate audit of all computer systems for this virus, plus a
complete report on plans to protect the computer system from it.

Please accept this as a friendly inoculation against such viruses, so
that if you see such a report again, you will NOT blindly cc it to all
of your friends, co-workers, and mailing lists, but will instead check
the Virus Hoax web sites (three of which are maintained by Symantec,
McAfee, and CERT!), and realize that you've been HAD again.
God forbid it should appear in the NY Times.
