Subject:  Internet email security & reliability

I apologize if this is not directly related to firewalls, but I did a search
of the Net and couldn't find anything....

Are there any white papers, studies, hard facts, etc. that are related to the
lack of security and reliability of internet e-mail and why it is not
appropriate for corporate use?  

Any articles, pointers, links, publications, etc. (or suggestions of other
forums)  would be appreciated. Please e-mail be directly since I know this not
directly related to firewalls; I'll post a summary.
