Hi Jim,
I agree that real world business applications of client side Java are few
and far between at the moment, but Perl/CGI can certainly not replace Java
on the client side - I mean there's no such thing as client side CGI.
Interesting concept though.

Personal opinion is that the only JAVA/JAVAscript these people are
really seeing is Netscape's Help Page which berates you for not allowing
the two Js. I've on the web for a long time and always with
JAVA/JAVAscript turned off (most of my machines are Win3.1 which doesn't
do JAVA at all !) So what are these business related sites that insist
you must use JAVA ? Have yet to get an answer to that one. Personally
have never seen anything done with JAVA that could not be done with Perl
or CGI.
