Hello People,
Maybe i sound like a newbie, But i am, kinda, in firewall matters.:)
So i want to Install firewalls on my Linux (2.0.30 RH) box. I checked the
other system, which behavior i liked.(linux 2.0.29,Slack) But i could not
find how the firewalls is installed there, what software is used and so
on. (checked rc.* files, inittab, logs, etc..) all i could find is such
entries in /proc/net/ :
--ip_forward
IP firewall forward rules, default 4
--ip_input
IP firewall input rules, default 4
--ip_output
IP firewall output rules, default 4
----------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone could tell me what are that mistery rules, and which is: default 4
and how the IP routing is done there.
(i know it drops packets sent from some certain devices, while forward
others, I thought first, ipfwadm was used, but it sets another things in
those proc files. Plus i didn't find it started anywhere.
 ANy ideas?
