SOCKS Configuration docs?

Hello.  Where can I get descriptive documentation
on configuring the "rules" for the SOCKS server?  I downloaded
the source for versions 4 and 5 off of ftp.nec.com,
but couldn't find any detailed docs. that pertained to configuring
SOCKS server.
