Subject: Create my own proxies

I need a firewall which allows me to create my own
application-level proxies. That is, a programming
interface which allows me to parse packets in some
simple way, with some simple IF-THEN logic.

Some firewalls claim they do this, but in fact they
only allow you to open some specific TCP (or even UDP)
port, I think. Seems like your average packet filter
to me.

Firewall-1 has some simple programming interface which
I reckon might be what I seek, but I'm not sure.

Tips welcome
