I would suggest that in parallel with getting a certification that
represents solid knowledge of security in general, there should be a
focus on the employer side of things. When I first got out of college
and wanted to get a job as a programmer the employer looked at my resume
AND gave me a non-language specific test. The test would allow the
employer to get a better understanding of how well I knew programming
structures, not how well I knew C. A similar test for security would
force individuals/companies to be well trained/knowledgeable in the area
of security (social, physical, and electronic). What the hell we take
personality tests and drug tests, why not add another one to the four
hour interviews :)
