I use a package called webget. It's written in perl, and relies on two
other packages, www.pl and network.pl.

What makes it really cool is that you execute it from a shell command
prompt, and it returns the web page to stdout. You can easily write a
script around it to let you know if the page doesn't come back, or if it
changes.

Where to get it? Darned if I remember. The header says comments go to

jp, but I'd do an altavista search before I email...

A little off topic...but no where else to go...

Does anyone know of a program that will monitor a web server (no ping,
but an actual access of the URL), and if the access doesn't work, page
me...

I would prefer a DOS, Win 3.X or WIN95 solution. But will go to NT or
UNIX if need be.

Thanks in advance,
