Michael C. Berch is a consultant with nearly 20 years of professional experience across industries including IT consulting, software development, computer manufacturing, government, law practice, and publishing.
He is a recognized Internet and networking specialist with experience in a variety of roles including consultant, analyst, site manager, course developer, author, editor, project leader, and strategist. His professional interests include network architecture, security, privacy, and intellectual property issues, IT department planning, staffing, and budgeting, and IT facilities management.
Michael has returned to consulting after a recent stint as Director of IT Technical Services for iPIX, where he managed an IT department and management team at four sites in the U.S. and Canada.
Before joining Great Circle Associates, he was a senior consultant to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory on defense-related networking projects; director of computer facilities for a biotechnology software (IntelliGenetics, Inc.); and the founder of INFOBAHN: The Magazine of Internet Culture. Prior to his consulting career, he was in private law practice, concentrating on computer and technology law.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, and a J.D. (law) degree from Golden Gate University. His personal interests include travel, aviation hobbies, writing, and hiking.
