There is no "real" kind in the sense you use it here; there is only
*one* "LISTSERV", and it's indeed written by Eric Thomas.
The rest either use the name "listserv" withOUT Eric's permission
(except for the LISTEARN software), or are list servers (note the
space!), or are mailing list managers.
