Folks,

I received my first host unknown (550 <foo@bis.esl.com>... Host unknown)
error message in the mail the other day as a result of my monthly
mailings. Is there anything other than nslookup(8C) and dig(1) that I
can use to verify whether or not this domain is really defunct?

Here is my use of nslookup(8C) and dig(1):

     ------------------------------
     nslookup(8C)
     ------------------------------

     coral:~/tmp% nslookup
     Default Server: mongoose.cs.unm.edu
     Address: 198.59.151.1

     > set q=any
     > bis.esl.com
     Server: mongoose.cs.unm.edu
     Address: 198.59.151.1

     *** mongoose.cs.unm.edu can't find bis.esl.com: Non-existent domain
     > esl.com
     Server: mongoose.cs.unm.edu
     Address: 198.59.151.1

     *** mongoose.cs.unm.edu can't find esl.com: Non-existent domain
     > exit
     coral:~/tmp%

     ------------------------------
     dig(1)
     ------------------------------

     coral:~/tmp% dig -t any bis.esl.com
