well isnt this interesting...
i do NOT have a 'feedback' form/cgi on MY websites...
and if i did, it would certainly work correctly and fill in the "From:"
field...
any sanctioned advertising of my lists have always stated extra requirements
for the subscribe request. ie: i have never supporteda vanilla
'subscribe HARLEYS' listserver syntax unless also
included in the same message is the other information required.
(first name, last name and contact phone#)
also, i use email headers and other tricks to avoid spoofs and forgeries.
THIS message doesnt give me any of that useful information.
oh sure... i could email and ask the person if it's legit.
but start doing that for many people every day and life as i would like
to know it would have to wait...
WHY OH WHY do these service providers think they do us favours advertising
in ways not sanctioned by the listowner?
we have to live their coding incompetence...
sigh*
(its a rhetorical question actually, i *know* service providers only
give a damn about the perceived short term convenience of their subscribers
in hopes of making a quick buck)
