If the length of socks.cstc.4.0.tar.gz you retrieved is not 618034, please
change line 135 of lib/Rconnect.c from
if ((pw = getpwuid(uid=getuid())) == NULL) {
to
if ((pw = getpwuid(uid=geteuid())) == NULL) {
Without this change, if you su to someone else and then invoke a SOCKS client,
the client will report your real user name whereas identd will report the user
name that you su to, causing a mismatch.
