Thanks for the quick response guys. I am not running IDENT on my server so
allowing the IDENT packets through to my mail gateway will not hurt me, and
allowing them through will allow the mail gateway to respond with the
"connection refused" thus avoiding the 30 second timeout I've been seeing
on some mail. 

I don't plan to run IDENT, though I am leaving the IDENT queries on in my
sendmail daemon.
