Subject: DEC SEAL on bastion host ?

Hi,

I am a novice and have followed discussion on this list in the past few
months. My organisation has an Internet connection via SLIP on my SunOS 4.1.3
through a nearby University. I have tcp/wrapper and swatch installed
on the host. Obviously this is no way to secure our system except using
a router and a bastion host. The Information Technology Division in
my organisation is now crying out and want to shutdown my connection.
They feel that their VAX VMS network could be compromised by attack.
I feel they may overreact because hardly any TCP/IP traffics is used
by their network.

As they always have misgivings about UNIX systems. I told them they
can provide the Internet connection for the whole organisation via their
VMS network and set up a firewall properly. They need my advices on the
firewall setup as they know that I follow various discussions on the
firewall list.

I heard someone mentioned DEC SEAL before.

My question is : Is propriety systems such as DEC SEAL and Multinet
TCP/IP can provide firewall security ?. How they are compared with
setting up a system using TIS Toolkits and SOCKs ?

Where can I get information on DEC SEAL and any experiences of using it ?.

Thanks.
