I would think the real question is, how much 'data/information' are you
willing to lose?  Is the threat coming from outside or inside your net?

What kind of a firewall did you have in mind?  In know, questions,
questions.  Perhaps a simple firewall consisting of a router that
blocks packets coming from the threat would be appropriate?
