Subject: WWW server behind packet screen

I've seen conficting information on WWW servers (ie. httpd) with regards to
the TCP/UDP port they listen on. I've read in some places that the port
numbers vary from server to server.

If this is true, then is there a secure way to put a WWW server behind a
packet screen?

If this is _not_ true, then what port _does_ a WWW server listen on? I've
seen '80', and '8080', and other values as well. Arrrgh!

Thanks,

Pete
